Far away for far too long...

Wow.

I am SO embarrassed.

I haven't posted in, what is it, a month now? Probably more than that. That is depressing, considering I said I would write every day. Bugger. There goes another resolution down the drain... Oh well. I'll try to write more often, I suppose. Plus, I've got SO MUCH TO SAY!

Where to begin?

Well, why don't we start at the very beginning? Seeing as it's a very good place to start.

Today was an interesting day. I took a test in Religion class, and was able to B.S. my way through the essay question (although in actuality, I knew my stuff, aside from the Aborigines... long story short, I wrote a big circle around them, never really getting to what their rituals actually WERE, which was what the question asked) and I'm positive I can't have gotten any lower than a B. So I suppose that's good news.

Tomorrow I have a lovely History quiz; however, in Ms. N's words, it's a long quiz, short test. I'm going to be up late with my History book, as per usual.

Why is it that History is always keeping me up past my bedtime?

Anyway. Moving on. Tomorrow in Rogo's room, we're having a meeting of our Secret Claudius Club (that's the club that's not so secret where we get together to watch I Claudius, a series about the Emperors of Rome). I'm so excited, I can't wait to see our old buddy Claudius again... although first we'll be getting a glimpse of the lovely Livia as she poisons people to death. Poor, poor souls. (For those of you who don't know, we watched this series in Latin last year; but we love it so much, we made Rogo let us see it again. We're quite the crew, yes sireeee...)

Tomorrow is also a Marians day -- meaning I have to stay until 4:30. Bummer. On the bright side, I get to sing, which is fun, and I get to sidle over to Seattle's Best Coffee during our break to get some coffee (SOMETHING to pick me up after that stupid History long quiz/short test).

OH! This week also just happens to be spirit week - and tomorrow is Boy Band Day. I don't know about you, but seeing as I don't have any skinny jeans (with which to be an emo boy band member, of course) and I own no band shirts, I guess I'm stuck trying to figure something out... Maybe I'll just wear the cowboy hat and say I'm from Rascal Flatts. That's sure to be a hit.

At any rate. I should probably get going to study for that shorttest/longquiz thing. Blaaahhhhh. I'd rather be roleplaying.

But I'll resist.

Maybe if I get time, I'll write about Cameron and Peter later.

Until tomorrow, loves! Ciao!

~Sophie~

P.S. Superfluous is one of our vocab words in English class, and I must say, it had me going on and on with POTC all day.

"But a ship like that makes this one here a bit superfluous, really."

Me: I love Jack Sparrow. -huggles-

Jack: ACHEM.

Me: Oh, sorry. CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow. My bad. ;)

No day but today...

Today was very interesting.

Went to the doctor this morning, and got some acne treatment stuff.

Thennnnnn... we came home, and Mr. L flipping canceled the mall thing, because he hadn't even asked his mother. Stupid #@$&*^+.

Anyway.

So. I wound up staying home and having the BEST ROLEPLAY OF MY LIFE - and most intense - on neopets. Dude. No joke, I seriously almost cried.

Eeeeek.

Anyway. Then I went and cashed some checks (from babysitting, whee!) and got my Rx from Safeway. Now I'm chatting with people on AIM, and figuring out plans for tomorrow. H and I are hanging out, then going to see HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, and then I'm spending the night at her house.

Should be mucho fun. :)

I'm gonna go now so I can get ready for bed. I can't post tomorrow, but I will the day after. Much love!

<3

P.S. Mother claims that Mr. L is not worthy to have Mr. before his name. So he'll just be L from now on.

I sort of agree with her, actually.

O_o

I just remembered...

I said I'd write an entry for every day. This one's gonna be short, since I want to get it in before midnight. Hahah.

Basically, this morning, sis and I had a bit of a fight; but then we sorted it out (with FOOD!) and we were fine the rest of the day. I lazed about this morning, then helped sis win the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Gameboy Advance game (we're both so nerdy, I know) before running off to babysit.

In all, it wasn't a bad evening. :)

Anyway. That's all, really. I'm tired, so I'm going to hit the hay. I'm sure I'll have more to tell tomorrow.

~Sophie Tucker~

Summer Reading: Check.

Wonderful news! While babysitting today, I managed to get all of my summer reading finished! (Turns out that Oedipus at Colonus isn't a very long play, nor was it anything new to me aside from the Theseus character, seeing as I had to know the gist of the story in order to perform in Antigone last year.) Now my sights are set on studying for my permit and getting it on Thursday. Wish me luck, everyone!

Hmm. Let's see. What other news. Going to the mall with Mr. L on Thursday after I get my permit (unless one of us cancels, which I hope doesn't happen) and then I need to plan some back to school supply shopping with mumsy or daddykins. Whichever one is more willing to waste their weekend spending money with me. Hahaha. That'd be neither one.

So. While I'm at it, I think I'll make a list of things I need for my new locker. I'm sharing one with A (she's one of the only people who followed me from middle school to HS) and we've got some great stuff planned for it. We'll be stocked up with gum and chocolate, and it'll be decorated with lots of amazing posters (featuring some of our favorite actor types; Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, all the guys that make you swoon over and over with their amazingness).

So. My List of Things to Buy for the New Locker:

-Giant Pack of Costco Gum
-Giant Pack of Costco Chocolate
-Word Magnets
-Posters and Pictures (for decoration, ahb-viously)
-Locker Shelves

To Be Continued.

Phew. I've got a lot to get done before school starts. At least I've made a little headway in that I've finished all the reading that's been required of me. :)

And I've made quite a bit of money this summer from babysitting and whatnot. In fact, I've got to go back over soon to take care of her again so that her parents can go out to this dinner thing. Heh. I just hope she'll be cooperative going to bed. Otherwise, I don't know what I'll do. Unghh.

But. At least I'm getting paid. That's nice.

Oh, and there's a song I've had stuck in my head all day (from Spamalot, of course) that I'd love to share with you.

 Once in every show
There comes a song like this
It starts off soft and low
And ends up with a kiss
Oh where is the song
That goes like this?
Where is it? Where? Where?

A sentimental song
That casts a magic spell
They all will hum along
We'll overact like hell
For this is the song that goes like this
Yes it is! Yes it is!

Now we can go straight
Right down the middle eight
A bridge that is too far for me

I'll sing it in your face
While we both embrace
And then
We change
The key

Now we're into E!
*hem* That's awfully high for me
But as everyone can see
We should have stayed in D
For this is our song that goes like this!

I'm feeling very proud
You're singing far too loud
That's the way that this song goes
You're standing on my toes
Singing our song that goes like this

I can't believe there's more
It's far too long, I'm sure
That's the trouble with this song
It goes on and on and on
For this is our song that is too long

We'll be singing this til dawn
You'll wish that you weren't born
Let's stop this damn refrain
Before we go insane
For this is our song that ends like this!

Until tomorrow, then.

~Sophie Tucker~

Let's go to Camelot!

Ahh. Today was a great day. =]

Well, this morning, we got up, as per usual (save that dad wasn't here) and went to church. I was mighty proud of myself for getting up, seeing as I've been staying up much too late lately.

Anyway. After church, we dropped Sister off at a friend's house, then we went over to K's and hopped into the car with her and her mom to head over to lunch (at the Macaroni Grill; yum!) before walking to the auditorium.

Spamalot was amazing.

A musical "lovingly ripped off" of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it tells the story of Arthur and the knights he recruits to sit at his "very very very round table" as they set off on a quest to find the Holy Grail. It's quite hilarious. If it is possible to be rolling in one's seat laughing one's head off, that's what we were doing. xD

My favorite characters were Brave Sir Robin (who ran away) and the man who was 'not dead yet.' Sir Robin sang a lovely number when the Knights Who Used to Say Ni gave them the task of putting on a Broadway musical. His song proclaimed that "you can't succeed on Broadway if you don't have any Jews." (Sir Robin and the men who sing of his bravery are shown below.)

Suffice it to say, I had a rather enjoyable afternoon; K and I went shopping while our mothers went home, and we both bought some good stuff for back to school.

In other news, I finished my summer reading book (In the Time of the Butterflies), and while it was a bit depressing, it gave me a fair bit of inspiration; I also felt pretty accomplished. Now all I have to do is read Oedipus at Colonus... unghh. Oh, and I still have to read the booklet that's going to get me my permit. Sighhh.

But. I'm getting there.

Oh. And on Wednesday, it'll be exactly a week until school starts.

YESS!

~Sophie Tucker~

Sister Act

Well. I'm happy to report that Sister and I had some lovely bonding time in the car while Mom was in the store, where we blasted the music loud and I experimented with the different settings on our radio. We were having a great time listening to overplayed songs on her favorite station, and Sister wanted the bass to be louder just for kicks... but the setting had been changed back to volume. Long story short, she reaches and turns the dial, we get our ears blown off, and we start cracking up.

It was hilariously funny.

Anyway. Next entry will undoubtedly be tomorrow after K and I go to see SPAMALOT! It's bound to be exciting. I think we're going to lunch, too, if we find the time. Won't be home until around... Hmm. I'm thinking three or four in the afternoon. Then I'll be sure to write something. I'm still inching slowly forward in In the Time of the Butterflies, although I've already gotten further than I'd expected.

OHH! In other news, I'm thinking of going to get my permit on Thursday (after reading the booklet I've been too lazy to read for the past three months) and then I'm going to the mall with Mr. L (don't you love the interesting names for people? Sister, Mr. L... it's actually because Mr. L's first name starts with an A, and I have two other friends whose names start with A... it would get really confusing if I talked about them all at once, huh?). Finally, I get to spend some of that babysitting money I've been collecting. :)

Well. I'm going to read some more and then call it a night. I told Sis we'd watch a movie, but I think we should probably get to bed, seeing as we have church in the morning.

Oh, and do you guys like my icon? I watched a youtube video with all of the 200 some things not to do at Hogwarts. I was cracking up by the end.

Rule #145

"It is not necessary to yell 'BURN' every time Snape takes points from Gryffindor."

Speaking of, I think I'm gonna make a post about Harry Potter Seven....

Anyway. Going now. Posting again later!

~Sophie Tucker~

The Dog Days of Summer

My dear friends, the last time I wrote to you was quite a long time ago, indeed. Back in March, maybe? I'm too lazy to check when my last post on LJ was. At any rate, it's been too long, and I am rightfully ashamed of my lack of update. However, I would like to point out that my life being as demanding as it is, I find it quite hard to fit blogging time into what used to be a busy schedule. (Most of my time is now spent involving myself in meaningless activities that will cause my brain to rot.)

After a summer filled with absolutely nothing (i.e. a mission trip to Mexico, a few sleepovers here and there, a Harry Potter movie premiere, a day long trip to a water park, a Harry Potter book release, and, of course, a mini-vacation to the beach) it is now less than two weeks away from the beginning of school. Go figure.

I'm actually really excited for school to start (though I'm going to miss my roleplay buddies, seeing as I won't get to talk to them nearly as much. Yes. I'm a dork. Get over it). We're doing a couple of fantastic shows in our theatre program this year, I'm going to be part of our Campus Service Team, and, along with four honors classes (the maximum allowed: My parents had to sign off allowing me to sell my soul to the academic devil) I'm also going to be in the auditioned choir. I've got a lot on my plate, but I've got no doubts that I can handle it.

All I've got to learn to do is to STOP PROCRASTINATING.

Well, we've hit the nail right on the head, there. It's what, ten days from the start of classes, and I haven't even finished my summer reading books. I'm 200 pages into the first one (more than halfway through) and I'm sure I can get the second one done even faster, seeing as it's a play and not an actual novel. In order to achieve my reading goal, I had to split the book into seven parts - very Harry Potter/Voldemort/Horcrux-ish, I know - so I wouldn't have to read so much every day. I cheated yesterday and read more than I should have, though. You'll find that with me, once I get started reading, it's hard to stop.

I'd fancy to say I'm a little bit too much like Hermione Granger. Minus the curly hair, of course. -grumble-

Another thing I've procrastinated on, unfortunately, is getting my permit. I turned fifteen a while back, but sadly to say, I've just been too lazy to read the blasted booklet telling me how the heck things work on the road. I've had a horrible case of "Grasshopper Summer" as I like to call it (based on the story of the Grasshopper and the Ant, of course. You know, the Ant prepares and gathers food, the Grasshopper just sits around and plays music, then when winter comes, the Grasshopper isn't prepared, blahblahblah). I think it's getting better though.

I'm posting on my blog, at least! I'm stating to take notice of the things that are important again.

Something else that's been bothering me, though, is that I haven't really written ANY of my book, which is rather depressing, and I probably have my roleplay buddies to thank for that. I've been so caught up with the Marauders (yes, I roleplay the Marauders, go ahead, sue me) that I haven't had time for Peter, Jasper, Cameron, or Luke. I've had plot bunnies, of course, but I haven't actually gotten anything down. I think I may have to wait until school starts in order to get some inspiration. I know exactly how I want things to go... I just need something to help me get the ball rolling.

Anyway. This entry is getting really long and boring, I'm sure. I don't have much else to tell, really, save for the fact that from now on, I've decided to write once every week about my life and the events taking place in it, whether they are interesting or not.

Heck. Maybe I'll find a romantic interest, and then my whole blog will be filled with mushy soppy gooey romantic talk. Though even if I do find a beau, I doubt I'll talk like that, since my mom has the liberty of reading my blog. -waves- Hi mom!

Wrapping it up. I've got so much to say about so many things, it'd take days just to get through it all. I can't sum up the summer in one post; there was far too much in it for that. But you can bet I'll tell summer stories in the future... as well as all of the school stories I'll be dying to tell once I get back into the full swing of academics. I can't wait.

More soon!

~Sophie Tucker~

I have come to a startling conclusion...

My dear friends, I have come to a startling conclusion.

My own mother spends more time blogging than I do.

It's a truly disquieting notion, to say the least, and one I plan on rectifying as soon as I find myself capable of doing so. Being the computer-savvy maiden in the house, you'd think I should be the one updating on the events of my life on the computer, no?

Apparently, I'm not doing my job as the teenager of the family.

Oh dear. It's not something I'm proud of, to say the least. However, my social life has been pulverized almost beyond repair due to all the after school activities and academics I'm involved in. I find myself unable to leave the house on weekends because I have too much homework. I don't like it, and I'm sure no one else in my school likes it, but thus is the fate of an SMA student. AND, to add on to that, I haven't been getting ANY exercise, which CANNOT be good for me.

To top it all off, I haven't been able to update my fanfiction in quite some time, and I haven't had any opportunity to write my book (haha. the book that always exists but is never written down.) or do anything else seemingly productive, such as laundry. Who knew so much laundry could pile up in the laundry basket, then sit there for weeks before someone has any actual time to do it?

I was never aware of such travesties during my middle school life.

But, being the ever-adapting high-schooler that I am, I must press forward, and reach for new goals -- one of which being updating this blog as often as my mommy does.

Of course, dearest mumsies doesn't have homework. And I do. Which makes it far easier for her to write things than it is for me, since she can just sit and not worry about the geometry binder sitting on the computer chair, filled with math problems just waiting to be solved, calling out, 'you'll get a bad grade if you don't do your homework!'

Evil math.

Nor does she have songs from CInderella running through her head as she tries to do said homework (THAT SHE DOESN'T HAVE!). Have you ever tried doing geometry with "THE PRINCE IS GIVING A BALL! THE PRINCE IS GIVING A BALL!" stuck in your head? Not so easy! And it doesn't just go away, either. The song stays there, in your head, ALL.

NIGHT.

LONG.

At any rate, I suppose I should get off now, so I can get to bed at a remotely reasonable hour. I've finished most of my homework (well, all of it for tomorrow, and some of it for wednesday) so I should be good to go.

I'm not uberly tired, though...

And even as I say that, I feel my eyelids drooping.

It's been a long day.

And now I have that bloody song stuck in my head.

Whoopie.
